LabelStack · ean barcode generator bulk

Bulk EAN barcode generator (EAN-13 and EAN-8)

EAN-13 is the 13-digit retail barcode used globally (and the encoding for ISBN-13). EAN-8 is the compact 8-digit version for tiny packages. This page defaults to EAN-13, validates every check digit, and prints vector sheets — without sending your GTIN list to a server.

  • EAN-13: 13 digits, or 12 with the check digit appended and flagged as a warning.
  • EAN-8: 8 digits, same GS1 modulo-10 from the right.
  • ISBN-13 is EAN-13 — drop the hyphens; the 978/979 prefix is part of the number.
  • ITF-14 conversion: a 13-digit EAN can be raised to a carton code with indicator 0 if you switch the row to itf14.

Sheet & fields

1" × 2.625", 3 × 10 on US Letter. Address / FBA 30-up.

Show on each label

If a whole sheet is shifted on your printer, nudge offset instead of stretching the PDF. Print at 100% scale, never “fit to page.”

Export

No watermark, no page cap. ZIP files use the current sticker size and include every field you turned on (name, SKU, price, custom) — not just the bars.

Add at least one valid barcode to export.

Paper & printer

This export is a Letter/A4 sheet. Have paper (and a laser) ready before you hit print.

Country prefixes are not magic

The first three digits of an EAN-13 are a GS1 prefix (often associated with a country or a special range such as 978 for books). They do not change how the bars are drawn. What matters for scanning is the full 13 digits and a correct check digit. LabelStack does not look up prefixes or tell you who “owns” a number — it only encodes and checks the math.

ISBN-13 on a book sticker

Modern ISBNs are EAN-13 numbers starting with 978 or 979. Paste 9780201379624 (hyphens stripped) as EAN-13. The older 10-digit ISBN is not an EAN; convert it first if you still have a list of ISBN-10s. Bookland add-ons (the five-digit price barcode) are out of scope here — this tool prints the main GTIN.

A4 vs Letter

European sellers often have Avery L7160 (63.5 × 38.1 mm, 21-up A4) rather than 5160. Switch the template dropdown to L7160 or L7163 after the CSV is in. The EAN encoding does not change; only the page box does. Printing an 8.5×11 PDF on A4 paper is how bars land in the liner.

ISBN-13 is EAN-13 with prefix 978 or 979. Strip hyphens. ISBN-10 is not an EAN; convert first. This page will not print the five-digit bookland price add-on. Small presses should read the ISBN-13 guide before labelling a print run.

Worked check: 4006381333931

The confectionery EAN-13 4006381333931 has check digit 1. 4006381333932 is a bad row. LabelStack names the spreadsheet line and the expected digit so the error is still a cell, not a carton. Country prefixes do not change how bars are drawn; the full 13 digits and the check do. We do not look up who owns a prefix. We encode and check the math.

Questions

FAQ

My EAN is 12 digits. Is it a UPC?

Maybe. A 12-digit retail code is UPC-A. A 13-digit code is EAN-13. Some software shows UPC-A with a leading zero as EAN-13 (0 + 12 digits). If you have 12 digits, use the bulk UPC page or set symbology to upca.

Do you fix check digits automatically?

We never silently change a 13-digit code you typed — that could hide a real GTIN typo. We show the expected check digit and the row number. “Fix all check digits” rewrites only rows that already failed, using the payload you entered plus the computed check.

Is my inventory/SKU data uploaded anywhere?

No. LabelStack runs entirely in your browser. CSV files, product names, SKUs, FNSKUs, and generated barcodes are parsed, validated, and rendered on your device. Nothing is posted to a server — there is no account and no backend that could store your catalog. You can confirm this in the network panel: generating and exporting never sends your rows anywhere. That is the point of the tool. Sellers who currently paste inventory into hosted generators are handing over supplier lists and Amazon FNSKUs; this site is built so we never see them.

What label sheet sizes are supported?

Presets include Avery 5160 (1" × 2.625", 30-up), Avery 5163 (2" × 4", 10-up), Avery 5167 (0.5" × 1.75", 80-up), plus 5161, 5162, 5164, 8160, Amazon FBA 30-up and 2×3 in, and A4 sizes L7160, L7163, and L7651. Each preset uses the published page size, label size, margins, and gutters so a desktop laser or inkjet lands on the actual sticker grid. If you use a house brand or a European size that is not listed, choose Custom size and enter width, height, columns, rows, and margins in inches. Letter vs A4 is a different page box — read the paper-size guide before printing a US PDF on A4 stock.

Is there a limit on how many barcodes I can generate?

No. There is no row cap, no page cap, and no watermark on PDF or ZIP exports. The only limit is your browser’s memory. Thousands of rows are parsed in chunks so the tab stays responsive; the sheet preview shows one page at a time while export walks the full set. If you generate tens of thousands of labels, leave the tab open until the PDF or ZIP finishes — it still never leaves your machine.

Why is this free?

LabelStack is a client-side tool with no servers to rent for your data. Optional advertisements on the page (never on the PDF, never over the download button) are how the lights stay on once the publisher network accepts the site. There is no paid tier because the product is the browser app: generate, layout, export. If ads are blocked, the generator still works. We also publish original guides because a tool without the print-alignment and symbology context is how people reprint a hundred bad stickers.
